Please bare with me while I boast a bit about my wonderfully intelligent and talented husband…
Last week, Ernie returned from a work conference in Dallas, and while there he had the opportunity to enter into a "Hack-A-Thon" contest. (nerd alert!)
So naturally, he along with his his buddy David from work entered into the contest, and only two days to complete a project. They decided on making an internet controlled cat door they named "Don't Not Enter" (that was all Ernie, I'm sure). It works by the cat touching the capacitive sensor on the door to "knock", which sends a message to its owner who can then use their smartphone app to unlock/lock the door and let their pet in if they want to.
I thought it was SUPER creative and apparently so did the judges, because Ernie and David ended up winning the GRAND PRIZE! Ernie said the judges were unanimous on them being the winners because they felt that their project was something that could actually be in the market the next day! So cool!
Below is the video of Ernie explaining their project -- Skip to 3:14 to get directly to his short interview...
Thanks for letting me boast! I'm SO proud!
